Magnificent Truths of Our Existence

Today, I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 9 of Daniel Parmeggiani's Virtual Blog Tour, whose new book, The Magnificent Truths of Our Existence, is currently celebrating its official launch.

Daniel ParmeggianDaniel Parmeggiani is a modern-day spiritual teacher whose approach is unaligned with any particular religion or tradition. Driven by intense psychological turmoil when he was younger, Daniel discovered within himself a deeper reality that he says not only saved his life, but also showed him the way to permanent happiness and inner peace. Those revelations became the foundation of his book, The Magnificent Truths of Our Existence.

Yesterday, Daniel visited Carl Bozeman's Blog at http://cbozeman.wordpress.com where Carl asked him about the practical way to achieve happiness, and how we can discover our true purpose.

Today, I'd like to share with you a recent interview I had with Daniel when I got to ask him about the key to inner peace, and the difference between real faith and blind faith.

What do you feel is the key to inner peace?

DANIEL: Inner peace demands that we lack any desire for things to be different than they already are. Therefore, the key to inner peace is the awareness of the perfection of all things, yourself included. You must come to understand why nothing that ever happens is a mistake and that everything happens the only way it can. You must see that everything and everyone is ultimately traveling on the best possible path, and that all paths eventually lead to spiritual realization, wisdom, and total fulfillment.

In your opinion, what do you feel is the difference between real faith and blind faith?

DANIEL: Blind, false faith is the unquestioning and irrational thought-control demanded by most religions and cults, and it does not lead to any real learning or understanding. Instead, this fear-based, closed-minded attitude prevents you from growing and destroys your natural curiosity and intuition.

Real faith is very different. It is the confident and optimistic trust in concepts that empower you and that open the doors to growth and possibility. It is saying, for example, “I trust that life and the universe are good!” It is the relinquishment of pessimism and negativity, and the embracing of optimism and positivity. It is an attitude that says, “I give God and life the benefit of the doubt. I choose to believe that being alive is great, that the Truth of my existence and of who I really am is magnificent, and that I am entitled and capable of knowing that Truth!”

What is the importance of living in the here and now?

DANIEL: Living in the here and now is being fully alive. It is focusing totally on the present moment and experiencing life to the fullest. When all of your focus is on the present moment, there is no focus on the past or the future. Therefore, there are no regrets or guilt about the past and no anxiety or fear about the future. The present moment is therefore a blissful place where psychological suffering cannot exist.

However, living in the here and now is not something you can just snap your fingers and do. Certain intense situations may force us into this state of pure being, but most of the time, we are too preoccupied with the past and the future, and too judgmental of the present moment to embrace the now completely. This ultimate state of being-ness requires having total inner peace. Just like a tidy housekeeper can relax in front of the television only once he knows that everything around the house is clean, organized, and in its place, so can the mind relax into the present moment only when it knows that everything is just the way it needs to be. Living in the here and now therefore requires that we understand exactly why everything is, in fact, just the way it needs to be, and this is the main focus of my book, The Magnificent Truths of Our Existence.
