The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

In order to change your current situation in life, you must work to change your subconscious thoughts. This is because the subconscious mind is working all the time. You can think of it as the autopilot, the "background noise" that is going on behind the scenes. You can also think of it as your foundational belief system because it has stored all your previous life experiences, your beliefs, your memories, your skills, all situations you've been through and all images you've ever seen. Scientists who study the mind tell us that as much as 95 percent of our behavior and the decisions we make stem from the subconscious mind, not the conscious mind. The conscious mind only accounts for around 5% of our cognitive activities such as decisions, emotions, actions and behavior.

From a Law of Attraction perspective, what you focus on is what you get in life. This focus is both conscious and subconscious in nature. Since we know that the subconscious mind is approximately 95% of your autopilot foundational belief system, you can see that what you attract in your life is due to the energy that vibrates from within you. That energy is literally your “subconscious” energy. It is the thoughts “stored” away in your subconscious mind that bring to you, in an “auto-pilot” fashion, what you see on a daily basis.

Every time you focus on something, it gets ingrained in your subconscious mind. The more you focus on it, the more momentum you build up in that area and the more you begin to attract similar situations of the same vibration. For instance as a child, if you witnessed one of your parents having an extramarital affair, you undoubtedly had strong emotions associated with this event. What you witnessed as well as your emotional response to this event has been stored in your subconscious mind. As an adult, that memory is still there in your subconscious mind and as you grew up, if you continued to feed that energy with that of mistrust of people in relationships, then you have a stronger tendency to attract these types of relationships into your reality.

Another example, is that of lack. As a child, if you grew up in an environment where there was an energy of “lack” when it related to money, then this emotional trigger is stored in your subconscious mind as well. As a result, in your adult life, when you think about money, you think about lack because that is the “auto-programming” you witnessed time and time again as a child.

As you can see, the subconscious mind is very powerful and as a result, if you want to invoke more sustainable changes in your life, you have to change your subconscious thoughts about it. When you change your subconscious thoughts, you start to attract a different reality. For instance, if violence and violent situations played a major role in your life, when you change your focus to that of peace, then over time you will start to see more peace in your life.

That does not mean to say that you will never find conflict in your life. That is to say that you will be more inclined towards peace. Let’s look at changing your subconscious like “shedding of skin” per se. Literally you are shedding away old layers of skin that do not serve you and bringing into light the new you. That new you will take many forms, depending on what you are shedding. As you are shedding the layers of conflict, you will naturally be attracting from whatever layer you are at in that moment.

Let’s give an example, let’s say that you have 10 layers of skin to go through in order to become the person of peace that you desire. Now let’s say that you have just begun working on your subconscious mind and have only shed your skin once. As a result, you are at a level of 9 of peace. Therefore, you will attract/be attracted to/be attracting situations, places, people that are also at a level of 9 as well. Now, of course, 9 is lower than 10, but you may not be able to tell the difference between the two since they are so close together.

Now let’s say you have been working on your subconscious mind regularly for 6 months and now you have shed 7 layers of skin and now are at a level of 3. Again, you will be attracting situations, places, and people that are also at level 3 as well. As a result, things that you used to like at a level of 9, no longer feel good to you right now. For instance, some of the music that you used to listen to will no longer resonate with you anymore. It may feel like the words involve too much conflict and since you are no longer resonating at that frequency, then it does not feel good for you. This is natural. It is a natural transition to a more peaceful world.

Note

There is also the collective mind of humans with beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. For simplicity's sake, we will stick to the conscious and the subconscious mind. We will address the collective mind at a later time.

What is in my Subconscious Mind

How do you know what is in your subconscious? There are several ways to determine or get an idea of, what is happening in your subconscious mind. The easiest way is to notice what you see around you or what you have manifested. What is the predominant “energy” of the world around you? For instance, in relationships, what type of people do you tend to attract into your life? Do you tend to attract friends who are trustworthy and honest? Or the opposite? Do you tend to manifest positive situations in your life? Do you tend to attract situations where you feel like a victim? Whatever the predominate subconscious thought system is will reflect in what you see around you.

Another way to get a glimpse at the subconscious mind is to listen to the residual noise that goes on in your head. For instance, if you constantly have thoughts of lack of confidence, you will "hear" thoughts of that going on in your head all the time. The caveat to this is that sometimes beliefs are so much a part of who you have created yourself to be thus far, that it manifests itself so quickly and consistently that you don't even realize you are doing it. As a result, you would have to “awaken” in order to “hear it”.

An example of this could be quickly-made decisions. These are decisions that are made so quickly that you are not even consciously aware of the underlying vibration of the decision. For instance, let’s say you consistently make decisions from a lack of confidence vibration. These decisions occur so often and so quickly, that you may not even realize this is your foundational belief system. The decisions you make are just so common and ordinary for you that you may not realize that they come from a place of fear. Because they occur so fast, you would have to relook at your decisions after they are made; for instance, taking the time to re-evaluate the majority of decisions you have made over a week’s time.
