#  Spiritual Steps to Improve your Relationship | Healing your Relationship

When you open your heart, you let go of resistance to the natural healing powers of the universe. These healing powers are available to all and are there to assist you if you allow it.

Allow it to come into your heart and heal old wounds, that were created in past relationships and still linger to this day. These old wounds affect your relationship, although not necessarily on a day-to-day basis.

How open are you with your mate? Are you as equally open on certain situations? Do you cringe at the thought of saying or doing certain things for the fear that something bad will occur? If you answered yes to this then your heart is closed on this specific topic. Something occurred in your past that has closed your heart to this situation and you are still holding on to it. When you can free yourself of this, you can truly heal from the past. You can let go of the residual energy that resides in you as a result of this incident. You literally say no more and heal yourself.

Chances are that arguments with your mate are a result of residual energies that lie between the two of you. Old situations that have resurfaced in the present. Your normal way of dealing with this is possibly to close up and not share your true feelings with the other person or to dwell on the situation. In any case, you have effectively closed yourself off from the healing that can occur in this situation. When you open, you allow a higher vibrating energy to heal the lower vibrating energy of the situation. You literally raise your vibration and healing occurs. Below are several ways in which you can open your heart by raising your vibration:

## Gratitude

When this occurs, you heal because you are opening your heart to a higher healing vibration.

When you focus on appreciating your partner instead of what you did not like about your partner, you are saying to the universe, that what you like is more important than what you do not like. You are letting go of the negative and focusing on the positive. When you do this, you bring more of the positive into your relationship. You heal from the past of focusing on negativity. This will in affect, improve and strengthen your relationship.

Unfortunately, it may be natural for you to take advantage of the things that you like and focus on that which you do not desire. The good news is that you can train yourself to focus on the positive aspects.

**Below are examples of how you can do this:**

- On a regular basis such as once a week or every day, make a gratitude list of all the things for which you are grateful about your partner. Keep it simple and just start writing. "I am grateful for my wife's smile, touch, passion, friendliness......etc. With practice, it will become easier and easier for the words to come to your head. As you do this more and more, you will be reminded of why you love your partner so much and how you felt when you first met. You will also begin to notice those positive aspects appearing more and more in your relationship. It is the simple law of attraction.
- Place your gratitude list that you create in a place that you see on a regular basis such as on the ceiling above your bed or on the refrigerator. If you desire, you can replace it every time you redo it.

## Couples Meditation

When you meditate with your mate, you open your heart and allow healing to occur. Meditating with a partner requires mutual trust and an ability to let go. You must get yourself into a place where you relax and allow his energy to become one with yours. The more you can surrender and let go, the more healing will occur. When you can let go (surrender) with your partner, your relationship takes on a whole new dimension. You will begin to feel more connected to your mate.

## Tough Times

![Emotional Health](https://www.seekwithinyou.com/images/emotional-300-210.jpg "Emotional Health")When things get tough with your partner, instead of going over and over in your head all the things you did not like, take a breather and raise your vibration. Raising your vibration will **improve your emotional health**. You raise your vibration by [finding something that makes you feel good](https://seekwithinyou.com/blogs/228-17-ways-to-raise-your-vibration "List of ways to raise your vibration") and doing it. You are the only person who can control your mood so make this a priority. When you feel better, start making your **gratitude list** about your mate. This may seem like one of the last things you would desire to do, however, it will improve your relationship. It will improve your relationship because you will be opening your heart and letting go of the situation. When you make a point to do this, the periods between the difficult times will diminish. Trust in this process. It really works. It is very simple, yet very powerful in its application.

## Commitment

Make a commitment to carve out a sacred routine for you and your partner. Being in a relationship requires work and you must make the commitment to continue to build your relationship. It is too easy to get into a routine and lose focus of where you began.

Once a week or however often you decide, you can have a sacred routine of meditating together, making your gratitude list together, verbally telling one another what you are grateful for about the other, holding hands and going for a quiet walk together, etc. Another example would be every night before bed, look into your partners eyes and give thanks for five things your partner did that you enjoyed.

## What if you are the only one who wants to take the steps?

You are the only one who can control your happiness. Pay attention to what you desire. Talk it over with your mate, however, do not force the issue. Allow them to participate as they desire. Be an inspiration. Start doing it and maybe your partner will be enthused by your efforts and start making the effort themselves. All in all, make sure that you feel good because this improves your emotional, spiritual and physical health.
